Taking life the way it comes to youcomes
The have nots’ fare better than the haves when it comes to the battle for survival. Picture somebody who had anything given to them on a silver platter now having to work for their own upkeep, they have a bone to pick with the world. That was the case of Mary. Her parents were well off to the point where they lived in a gated community. She knew nothing of want until her parents were accused of fraud and she found herself in need of a job to cater for her expensive lifestyle. At first, her parents’ friends were all wiling to find something for her to do, but seeing her unwillingness to do any job that entitled her to working the whole eight hours, most of them retreated and left her alone to her whims. She would hop from one job to the next and would have at least three jobs in one month. Her mind was set on the good life but she did not know how to provide for it. She felt undermined and constantly bickered on how unfair life was to her. ‘do i qualify for unemployment if i quit my job?’ was one of the questions she asked constantly. When she was told that she had to have a good reason for quitting, she would site unsuitability of the job to meet her needs. This has never been considered a good reason. She would nag and beg for help which people offered her in form of a job, but all she cared about was, ‘can i get unemployment if i quit?’ She could not reconcile her life with the previous one and she ended up miserable all because she never accepted that life was not one smooth ride.
